fan-based celebration of all things Stephen King is set to be unearthed from noon to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the theater, 20145 Leitersburg Pike in Hagerstown.
King Con starts with a father/son reunion of “Pet Sematary” stars Dale Midkiff and Miko Hughes. The actors, who played the ill-fated Dr. Creed and his son, Gage, in the 1989 film, will be on hand to meet admirers, pose for photos and sign autographs.
Joining them will be creature actor Kent Wagner from “The Walking Dead,” “Stranger Things” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”; and horror actor, writer and producer Barry Ratcliffe from “Army Wives,” “Outsiders” and “Torture Room.”
Activities will take place in and around the old abandoned drive-in behind Leitersburg Cinemas, while a lively showing of “Pet Sematary” will begin at 6 p.m. inside the theater. Hosted by Ghost Host, a division of Ghost Writer, the event also will feature a Resurrection Trail, a murder mystery/escape room/haunted trail mashup; cosplay contest,; spiritual readings; plus vendors, live music and food. Beer and wine will be available inside the theater.
Come dressed as your favorite King villain, if you dare.
Pre-sale discount general admission costs $9, but serious fans can pay up to $119 for the King of all experiences - up-close meetings with Midkiff and Hughes, the trail and the screening of “Pet Sematary.” There are entertainment packages of all sizes waiting to be devoured.
