The award-winning Doric Quartet from the UK returns to Harrisburg with a program offering a comprehensive view of string quartet literature from a Classical masterpiece by Joseph Haydn, considered the “father” of this genre, to a Romantic gem by Mendelssohn, and a pinnacle of Modernism, the String Quartet No. 5 by Bartók. There will be a pre-concert talk by Dr. Richard Strawser at 7:15 pm.
This concert is sponsored by Estelle Hartranft. A resident company of Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts, Market Square Concerts also receives support from the Cultural Enrichment Fund and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
