October 13 East York Neighbor Nite: Playback Theater, “When I Was a Kid”
Imagine telling a story from your childhood and then watching it performed in front of you and your friends. That’s the experience you’ll enjoy at First Church of the Brethren’s East York Neighbor Nite on Saturday, October 13 at 6:30 PM, kicking off a diverse series of five East York Neighbor Nites. The church is located at 2710 Kingston Rd, York, PA 17402, at the corner of Sundale.
Under the theme of "When I Was Kid," the church will host performers from River Crossing Playback Theater. Playback Theatre is based on deep listening, improvisation, and working without a script but using methods that provide guidelines for secure and supportive creative expression.
With a guide to help you tell your story, you may be invited to pick out which player will perform you in your story. Then, with the guide’s signal of “Let’s watch,” the performers will invite you and the audience to observe a multi-generational journey of innocence, discovery and coming of age. Bring your story and add it to the unique-yet-universal threads that weave together create our community. The event is free.
